The 27th foundation day of General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) affiliate union, Nepal Auto-mechanics Trade Union (NATU) has been celebrated on July 19th by organising various programs.
The chief guest of the event held in Kathmandu under the chairmanship of NATU President Pradip Ghimire was GEFONT President Binod Shrestha.
Similarly, in Butwal of Lumbini Province, the anniversary was celebrated by donating blood and lighting a torch, while in Kanchanpur of Sudur Paschim Province, it was reported that the organisation's 27th anniversary was celebrated by blood donation and tree planting program.
An agreement has been reached to organise the ticket booking counters of public transport within Kathmandu metropolis by 4th of August.
The agreement was reached among the representatives of all the 3 federations of the transport sector: Kathmandu Metropolitan City, officials of the Nepal National Transport Professionals Association and
Independent Transport- Workers’ Association of Nepal on July 16.
After Kathmandu Metropolitan Corporation published a public notice on July 11 stating to remove ticket booking counters from July 16st, stakeholders protested the decision of the metropolitan city by issuing a statement on July 15th.
In a workshop organised by GEFONT, the waste management and waste segregation workers working in Tarakeswar municipality participated in a gathering and situation analysis workshop on July 13.
In the event presided by Mohan Nepali, president of Nepal Garbage Cleaners Employee Union, GEFONT Vice President Bidur Karki informed about the purpose of the program and also said that this program will help to solve the problems of the cleaning sector.
The program was facilitated by the General Secretary of Home Workers’ Trade Union Nepal Gyanu K.C. and Shankar Ghimire.
The sixth convention of the Central Union of Painters, Plumbers, Electro and Construction Workers-Nepal (CUPPEC) Nepal Kaski District Women's Committee was held on June 29 in Pokhara.
The convention held with CUPPEC central president Shanta Basnet as the chief guest has elected an 11-member CUPPEC Nepal Kaski district women's committee under the presidency of Lalita Magar.
Leaders including GEFONT Gandaki Province President Rudra Khatri gave greetings and leaders like GEFONT Gandaki Province Deputy Secretary Sangita Pandey, Central Secretary Baladevi Rai participated in the convention.
The sixth convention of National Beauticians’ Union of Nepal’s (NABUN) Kaski District Bagar Unit Committee held on July 10 has elected a unit committee of 11 members under the presidency of Anita Khatri.
With the slogan of “safe and dignified employment - rights of beauticians”, the event was held under the chairmanship of Kalpana Rana and the chief guest was Meena Gurung, coordinator of the parliamentary and local level of GEFONT.
The convention was attended by guests including NABUN Central Member Nur Gurung and GEFONT Gandaki Province Women's Committee Vice President Durga K.S.
In celebration of the 45th foundation day of the Nepal Independent Hotel, Casino and Restaurant Workers’ Union (NIHWU): The Soaltee Hotel Unit distributed food to 238 needy people at Sri Manav Sewa Ashram Banasthali on July 7.
Unit President Shiva Prasad Timilsina, Vice President Badri Kumar Bhandari, General Secretary Kamal Ghimire along with CPN (UML) Nagarjun Municipal Committee President Nandahari Gautam were present at the event.
