GEFONT Marks 106th International Working Women Day Grandly

March 09 – GEFONT has celebrated 8th March – 106th International Working Women Day grandly organising rally and mass meeting in Kathmandu.  Rally was started from Man Mohan Labour Building GEFONT, Putalisadak and conversed in Mass Meeting at Ratnapark.

Chief Political Advisor of PM and GEFONT President Cde. Bishnu Rimal, GEFONT Women Committee Leaders,  GEFONT & Affiliates as well as ANWA  leaders & members participated in the Rally.

Addressing the Mass Meeting, GEFONT Women Committee President, Goma Devi Acharya said "New Constitution has guarantee some rights of Women but it is not enough". She added though it is achievement that Women have acquired significant position like President of state, Speaker of Parliament and other important postions  but it must be continue in future too. For intervention in decision making bodies women should be strongly organise and urged all the workers to make success of GEFONT organising Campaign " GEFONT in every workplaces."

Likewise Speaking in the Program, ANWA Acting President Goma Devkota said Unity is strength and recalled long history of Nepali Women Movement. The achievement women made today is due to long struggle and sacrifice, she added.

Hundreds of women participated in the rally chanting the slogan Equal wage for Equal work, Women Rights Human Rights, Equal Rights in all elected bodies, Implement the Labour Act, Guarantee 10% workers representation, Ratify ILO Convention 87, guarantee the Social Security, Implement Minimum Wage etc
