Kathmandu, Trade unions have warned for agitation to the Central Carpet Industries Association for not providing minimum wage fixed by Government. GEFONT affiliate Jute, Textile, Garment and Carpet Workers’ Union Nepal (JTG-CWUN) along with ANTUF affiliate All Nepal Carpet Workers union have submitted Charter of demand to the Association on 29 November 2018.
In the Chartered of demand submitted to the Central Carpet Industries Association on behalf of the two trade unions, increased minimum wage should be provide to the workers according to the Government rules & demand for the facilities according to the labour law.
According to the president of JTG-CWUN Cde. Arjun Adhikari Unions have been repeatedly informing to the Association regarding these issues but Association has been ignoring the workers demand & imposes workers to work with less than the minimum wage fixed by Government.He further informed that unions has serious attention on the false news of agreement between trade unions & Carpet Association & impose workers to work less than the minimum wage fixed by Government.
All Nepal Carpet Workers union president Cde. Sonam Ghising said “We have demanded to provide the minimum wage to the workers fixed by the government & workers should have facilities according to the labour law.
Both Unions have appeal for immediately solve the issues of Minimum wage & Compliance of the labour law. They further warned, Otherwise Workers will be compelled to proceed for further conflict according to the law.
Nepal Government has fixed Rs 13,450 per monthly minimum wage with common consensus of employers, representatives of trade unions and government.
