UNITRAV Warns; further strong steps
Kathmandu, GEFONT affiliate Union of Trekking Travels, Rafting and Airlines Workers - Nepal (UNITRAV) has warned to stop foreign groups if the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) & Nepal Association of Travel Agents (NATA) didn’t implement agreement of 29 November.
The ongoing strike called by Union has demanded to resolve the issue immediately otherwise workers of several sectors, trekking, travels, rifting, airlines, culture archeology, cargo, and courier will be compel to halt their services.
By organizing press meet Union has urged the ministries of Forest and Environment, Labor, Home, Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation to facilitate between workers and employers to resolve the current problem.
Speaking in the press meet UNITRAV president Cde. Suman Parajuli Said “They are compelled to protest for the trekking workers’ welfare. “We are going to call for indefinite strike from 14 April if the employers didn’t implement the agreement “he said.
In the program UNITRAV Secretary General Cde. Ram Bahadur Shrestha demanded for immediate dismissal tax which has been collecting with the workers in national parks. Similarly, union has further demanded for dismissal of the single trekking permit, 10 service charges in tourism sectors, decent wage, trainings and other facilities as well as the immediate implementation of Labor Act, Social Security Act in the tourism sectors.
