8 June 2019, GEFONT high level delegate comprising of President Cde Binod Shrestha and vice president Cde Ramesh Badal visited Laos on 6 to 7 June, 2019.
Cde. PAN Noymani president of LFTU, Lao federation of trade unions welcome GEFONT delegates in LFTU Head Quarter. During the meeting LFTU president propose to strengthen the bilateral relationship between two unions.
He said we may initiate exchanges of vosit, exchange of information and cooperete each orther to built international cooperation in future.
Responding to the proposal of LFTU, GEFONT president Cde. Binod Shrestha invited Leaders of LFTU to visit Nepal on 2020 on the occasion of Visit Nepal year. He, said that exchange of visit and sharing of views will help to strengthen the relationship between two organisations.
During the meeting Cde. Ramesh Badal, GEFONT, Cde. Vanhna Dounhphachanh Vice president, cde. Impeng, director of International department, Vilay Vongkhaseam, Deputy Director of International Dept and other leaders of LFTU also presented. After bilateral meeting, GEFONT Delegates visited Lao Appeal company limited where around 400 workers are working.
During the meeting, delegates were briefed about the process of work, working conditions and benefits provided to the workers. Similarly, GEFONT Delegates also received warm welcome in Nam Gyum province where first hydropower project established in 1971. It is a dam project producing 155 MW and by 2021 capacity will enhance upto 275 MW.
The Nam Gyum power dam covers some 8000 sq. Km areas and it is also know as human made sea of Laos. Laos is land locked country and it has significant importance of use of water resources like Nepal.
