NIHWU concludes 3rd Delegates council meeting in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal Independent Hotel, Casino and Restaurant Workers Union (NIHWU) Third delegates’ council Meeting hold on 21 September 2019 in Kathmandu. The program was chaired by Cde. Indira Lama, the chief of the NIHWU delegate’s council and the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Yogesh Bhattarai addressed as a chief guest.



Speaking as a chief guest on the occasion, Minister Bhattarai said that Government  would take initiative to implement social security program in tourism sector. He also said there was a need for good cooperation with tourism sector workers & Expected support and cooperation of employers and trade unions to make visit Nepal 2020 success.



Speaking at the program, IUF-AP Regional Secretary General Mr. Hidayat Greenfield said that the wages of the workers in the tourism sector of Nepal should be justified. On behalf of the IUF, he expressed solidarity with the movement of the workers of Nepal.



Speaking on the program, HAN President Ms. Sanjana Rana said that a cordial atmosphere was needed between the employers  and the trade unions, adding that the commitment to implement the 10 percent service charge
agreement between the Han and the trade unions.

Similarly, GEFONT Vice President Cde.  Manju Thapa highlighted that the role of labor is more important in the implementation of issues raised by GEFONT for the welfare and rights of the workers.



The closed  session of the meeting GEFONT General Secretary Cde. Janak Choudhary addressed as a chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Secretary-General Chaudhary said “while giving advice and suggestions on the strategy and plans of the union a clear perception should was necessary to go to the Common workers. In each of enterprise level union of NHIWU should move forward with clear vision   about social security as a campaign.

In the closed session, the general secretary of the union Cde. Cde.  Laxman Tiwari, submitted an evaluation report for the past two years and the financial secretary Ranju Thapa presented the financial report. The meeting has also passed plans and special resolution for the upcoming work presented by president Cde.  Surya Bahadur Kunwar.



The delegate’s council chief, Cde. Indira Lama, thanked all the guests and delegates and, announced the passing of organizational reports, financial reports, upcoming work proposals and special proposals presented at the meeting. She concluded the meeting saying that all the workers needed to make NIHWU stronger and more active.
