Solidarity to the Philippines' Trade Unions

Kathmandu, GEFONT affiliate Central Union of Painters, Plumbers, Electro & Constructions workers Union Nepal (CUPPEC-Nepal) has strongly expressed solidarity with the working class and trade unions of the Philippines, condemning the Philippine government for suppressing trade union movement and arresting trade union leaders.



BWI affiliates three unions CUPPEC- Nepal, CAWUN & ANCWU leaders and cadres gathered on the premises of the Consular Office of the Philippines on 10 December in International Human Day.



Expressed strong Solidarity against the oppression of the workers in the Philippines and the demand for protection of the human rights of the working class.

All three trade unions have submitted a memorandum to the Philippine government through a consular office to stop the attacks on the trade union organizations and labor leaders immediately. The memorandum states that; obey ILO conventions and that the ILO's high-level tripartite mission should be allowed to visit the country soon.
