The General Federation of NepaleseTrade Union(GEFONT) has urged all workers to participate actively in the anti-inflation programs held around the country and to expose the coalition government’s ‘anti-people’ measures. In this regard, GEFONT has released a statement.
According to the statement released by GEFONT General Secretary Janak Chaudhary, the decision was made to grant two days off work for the purpose of regulating petroleum consumption, however, official vehicles continue to be used on the day of leave. GEFONT believes the government has hiked the price of petroleum products and food items every week to cover election expenses in such a bizarre manner, stating that the general people are having difficulty obtaining health care and other service owing to the two-day holiday. “Everyone should oppose and expose such criminal conduct”, added GEFONT.
Moreover, the incumbent mandamus-made coalition government has been blatantly hiking prices to finance election expenses, and the government has no program or interest in addressing the people’s everyday necessities, according to GEFONT. The statement reads that the party is engaged in the game of saving the coalition and maintaining the power-sharing practice whereas common people are struggling due to the high prices.
GEFONT claimed that the coalition government is attempting to hide its misconduct by giving false assurances to the general public and instilling fear that the country could face mishaps.
Across the country, agitation programs have been initiated in response to the dramatic increase in the price of petroleum products. GEFONT calls on all the working community members to take part in these initiatives and expose the anti-people activities.
