Home Workers Trade Union Nepal (HUN) has organized a program on the occasion of International Domestic Workers Day on 16 June at GEFONT trade union School.
Recalling that the workers in past, hide their identities due to the undignified labour world said that, labour would be equal but workers have been facing problems because of society’s vision towards the workers and anticipate undignified labor.
Chief guest Shrestha said that “the changes in the home-based working sectors are at the hand of the struggle for the right of home-based domestic workers led by the HUN and GEFONT, and he stressed the need to unite all the workers for the promotion of more dignified work and social security, labour registration, and other issues.
On the occasion, International Domestic Workers Day Chief guest, Binod Shrestha inaugurated the event and signed the banner for the ratification of this convention of ILO convention No. 189, conventions against gender-based violence in the workplace 190, and convention 177 against home-based and domestic workers.
GEFONT Vice Presidents Bidur Karki and Kamal Gautam were the guests while the program was presided by the HUN president Chandra Sagar Lama and anchored by the HUNSecretary-General Gyanu Maya Kc.
