GEFONT held a MayDay celebration in several municipalities of Province 1

Mayday 2022 has been commemorated in various municipalities by the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions(GEFONT) Province-1.

The Municipality conducted a Wokers’ Assembly in GEFONT Biratnagar Metropolitan, where CPN-UML Standing Committee Member Cde. Guru Baral was the chief guest and Cde. Debraj Ghimrey, a Standing Committee member and Province-1 In-charge, and Cde. Binod Dhakal, Morang In-charge, and Central Member addressed the event.
 

Province President Cde.Kishor Dhamala spoke on behalf of GEFONT in the assembly regarding workers' representation at all levels, labor desks in all municipalities, the inclusion of unorganized workers in social security, and the resolution of labor sector issues through the municipality.

Cde.Sagar Thapa, the mayoral candidate for Biratnagar Metropolis, and Cde.Silpa Karki, the Deputy Mayor and ward chairperson candidates of all 19 wards were presented at the event.
 

Mayoral candidate Cde. Sagar Thapa and  Deputy Mayor candidate Cde. Shilpa Karki addressed the assembly. Cde. Prakash Sharma, the Professional Federation’s District Chairman, hosted the event.
 

Similarly, Katari Municipality, Triyuga Municipality of Udayapur, Mechi Municipality, Birtamod Municipality, Damak Municipality, Arjundhar Municipality of Jhapa, Dharan sub-metropolis of Sunsari district, Itahari Sub-metropolis, and Belbari Municipality of Morang district have also marked International Wokers’ Day.
