NIHWU celebrates 29th founding day

Kathmandu, Nepal Independent Hotel, Casino & Restaurant Worker’s Union (NIHWU) celebrated its founding day by organizing program in Kathmandu. The program was chaired by Cde. Bansi Bhattarai, Senior Vice President of NIHWU and GEFONT President Cde. Binod Shrestha addressed as a Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Cde. Shrestha said that in the new Labor Act and Social Security Act, there are some points which are in favor of working class and using them, the Trade Unions should play more responsible and strong role in the coming days.



During the program, IUF, AP, South Asia Director Mr. Kumar Ul Hassan, Cde. Bishnu Lamsal, Chief of the Discipline Commission of GEFONT, General Secretary of Hotel Association Nepal Mr. Sajan Shakya, REVAN Secretary General Mr. Ekraj Adhikari, Founder Chairman of NIHWU Cde. Hari Sharma Kafle. The general secretary of the Nepal Tourism union had extended their greetings. NIHWU Finance Secretary Cde. Ranju Thapa welcomed the program.



In the meanwhile, the best trade union awards, and scholarships has been distributed. This year, among the enterprise level hotel union, Hotel Sangrilla received the Best Trade Union Award.



Likewise, under -Madhav Neupane Memorial Scholarship Award Ms Kriti Lamichhane, daughter of Krishna Sharan Lamichhane, a member of NIHWU Casino Mazong, received the award by scouring 3.6 GPA in SEE. Mr. Dristant Silwal, son of Cde. Govinda Prasad Silwal, senior vice president of NIHWU Hotel Annapurna, received award by scouring 6.5 GPA in the SEE this year. Chief guest handed over Scholarship Award, cash prize and certificate to both winner.



On the program, senior vice president of NIHWU Cde. Bansi Bhattarai said that according to GEFONT's policy and program, union should proceed with new plans in the coming days and should carry out programs including training, in the enterprise level.
