Realising ITUC call to its affiliates in order to mark the Year 2008 as the year for Decent Work and keeping in view the ILO Global Campaign targeting the Year 2009 as the 10th year anniversary of its gender equality action plan under the theme- Gender Equality at the Heart of Decent Work. Even the ILO Asia has set the year 2006-15 as Asian Decent Work Decade; the GEFONT organised a regional conference of Trade Union Woman in South Asia (September 20-22, 2008 at Kathmandu Nepal). The theme of conference was "Together we will Achieve: Decent Work and a Better South Asia".
