GEFONT launches campaign to ratify ILO convention No.87

July 20- Marking the 20th founding anniversary, GEFONT formally declared campaign to ratify ILO convention No.87. GEFONT President Com. Bishnu Rimal, handed over the Memorandum to Rt. Honorable Chairperson of Constituent Assembly Subash Chandra Nemwang, with request to ratify the ILO convention No.87 amidst Ceremony of GEFONT 20th founding anniversary. The ceremony which was held at National theatre of Jamal, Nepal was chaired by Com.Bishnu Rimal.

Addressing the ceremony as the Chief Guest CA Chairperson congratulated GEFONT on its achievement during two decades. Rt. Hon’ able further Stated- "In spite of many challenges GEFONT has played a vital role to strengthen Nepali trade union movement."

CA Chair was in opinion that sooner not later the house will unanimously adopt the convention 87 if the Government table it for ratification. Pointing the special guest the UML Secretary General, he further hope that UML party who is leading the ruling coalition direct the government to take it as serious concern. Nepal has already ratified the seven out of 8 ILO core conventions. After ratification of Convention 87, it is to be understood that Nepal will endorsed the ILO Fundamental principle and right at work.

Addressing the ceremony special guest Com Iswor Pokhrel Secretary General CPN-UML committed to make success of GEFONT campaign by directing the government for the ratification of Convention No.87. Committed to direct the Government for the ratification of Convention No.87.

Dr. Pravin Sinha, the senior expert of Trade Union rights and Industrial relation in South Asia analyzed 2 decades of South Asian Trade union movement. He was lauding remarkable progress made GEFONT.

As Guest speaker Country Director of ILO office in Nepal Shengjie Li appreciated GEFONT and its leading role in National and International trade union Movement. He further expressed best wishes for the success of GEFONT campaign   to ratify the ILO convention no. 87.

From its 20th Anniversary GEFONT has declared its campaign to ratify it. The symbol of campaign was launched jointly by Com. Iswor Pokhrel and Brother Shengjie Li. During this Ceremony GEFONT also honored the senior unionists for their valuable contribution to carry on flag of Nepali trade union movement.
