March-7 GEFONT expresses hearty gratitude to the Government of Nepal for its decision to grant a paid-leave to entire working women in Nepal on the occasion of 8th March. It is stated in a press communiqué released today by the GEFONT Secretary General.
GEFONT has been continuously demanding a paid-leave for all working women since 1992. With the success of Loktantrik Andolan (the April Uprising of 2006), Government of Nepal has declared public holiday on 8th March for all women working at Governmental, Semi-governmental and Private enterprises.
International Working Women’s Day is a great symbolic day for women of entire world favouring the gender equality. Nepal has been celebrating this day as a special day to publicise issue of gender equality.
To mark this historic Day, GEFONT has requested all the working men & women to participate in rally. The rally is scheduled to hold on 8th March at Ratnapark, Kathmandu at 12 noon.
