February 24- The General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) deeply mourns the sudden and untimely demise of Comrade Ramjee Acharya, the Joint-Secretary of Lumbini-Rapti Zonal committee. He expired on 24th February 2007 due to brain tumour. As a finest trade unionist, he was active as one of the Central leaders of the GEFONT National Affiliate- the leading federation of construction sector CUPPEC-Nepal, which also the affiliates of Global Union Federation- BWI.  He leaves behind his wife and two daughters & one son.
Born in 1963 March 14, Com. Acharya began his career as the trade unionist from 1998. He was important organiser to expand CUPPEC in Lumbini to Dhaulagiri Zones. He fell seriously ill after participating GEFONT education conference which was held at November 19, 2006.
Prior to join trade union he was active in Left movement as the student activist and later join the Communist Party of Nepal (UML).
GEFONT pays homage to Com. Ramjee Acharya and condoles to bereave family. GEFONT Zonal Chair Kamal Gautam, Secretary of Department  of Publication & Publicity Jitendra Shrestha and CUPPEC Secretary Nara N Luitel dedicated GEFONT and CUPPEC Flag, prior to cremate his dead body. A group of unionists and political leaders were present to pay last respect to Com. Ramjee Acharya.
