Leadership Development training concludes

July 11 – Training on "Leadership Development" organised by GEFONT has been concluded in Kathmandu. The aim was to enhance the capacity of youth workers. The training was inaugurated by Cde. Umesh Upadhyaya Secretary General of GEFONT and  facilitated by Cde. Bidur Karki Secretary, Education Department of GEFONT and in participation of other members of  GEFONT Education Department. Altogether 40 GEFONT district youth committee members from Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur had participated in the programme.

In order to ensure that these workers are able to participate actively in the trade union movement and to work for the promotion and protection of their rights, GEFONT focused for the organizing of Youth workers in targeted sectors through training &  awareness-creation. GEFONT conducted various trainings and published a number of  materials with the aim of  enhancing the capacity of youth workers and mobilising them in Trade union movement.

Now, GEFONT has a National Youth Committee, 12 GEFONT Youth Zonal Committees and 30 GEFONT youth district committees.

Under the theme of "Youths in Social Service",  at the end of 2010, GEFONT made a plan for holding a Youth National Conference, Formation of Youth Committees in various structures of GEFONT, Formation of Youth Committees in each level of affiliates  and implementation of creative extra-curricular activities for mobilisation of youth who are in employment.
