June 25 – Nar-Phoo-Himalyan Region cleaning programme organised by UNITRAV has been concluded. As a part of campaign on Save Climate-Save Himalayas, GEFONT affiliate Union of Trekking, Travels, Rafting and Airlines Workers - Nepal (UNITRAV) had launched the Nar-Phoo area cleaning campaign from June 05 ,2012 with slogan clean environment for sustainable development of Tourism –Social security for workers benifit. For this purpose, UNITRAV had formed 30 members team under the coordination of Cde. Shyam Kumar Rai, Vice president of UNITRAV central committee.
During these 20 days, the team organised interaction programmes with local hotel entrepreneurs, Workers, Students, Women groups and other community members in order to create environmental awareness among.
The team collected 13780 kilo Garbage which they buried and burned in Nar-phoo. They also brought some rubbish in Kathmandu which could be sent to recycling.
With the purpose of sharing information, UNITRAV organised a Press Meet programme on June 25 in Kathmandu. On the occasion, a documentary on Cleaning campaign was also shown .
