OHS Strategy Planning Workshop concludes

June 19- Two days ITGWUN workshop on OHS Strategy Planning has been concluded today in Kathmandu. The main objective of the workshop was to plan Occupational Health and Safety strategy to make the safe workplace and to protect workers heath. 

Resource person Mr. Bidur Karki, Secretary of GEFONT Education Department briefed on OHS, causes of different diseases & Accident. He highlighted  the importance of union awareness on OHS and responsibilities of union, management, government and workers. He also presented important of joint OHS Committees to solve the risks and health hazards.

Participants discussed on problems & risks that they have been facing at their workplaces.  Based on problems listed, Mr. Keshav Duwadi, Member of GEFONT Education Department highlighted importance of effective strategy on OHS to eliminate the risk and make safe workplace.

Workshop has decided to carry out OHS study and suggested to the way forward to make joint OHS at plant level jointly with employers.

Likewise, work plan for different awareness programme and to make joint OHS committees in their respective areas made.

Concluding the workshop, Mr. Arjun Adhikari, General Secretary of ITGWUN urged all participant to coordinate with Central, District, Unit committees for effecting implementation of  action plan and widely aware about OHS at workplaces.
