Workshop on ITGWUN Education System Planning concludes

June 18- ITGWUN has organized workshop on Education System Planning during June 16-17, 2012 in Kathmandu. The main objective of the workshop was to discuss and plan effective system to educate and organise textile and garment workers. 

During the workshop, Mr.  Keshav Duwadi, Member of GEFONT Education Department briefed the educational and organising strategy & tools used by ITGWUN  in the past and lesson learned. The participants were asked to discuss best practices & lesson which could be suitable in the changing context.

Resource person Mr. Bidur Karki, Secretary of GEFONT Education Department highlighted on education system which is most important to develop to strengthen the union and to educate and aware the workers. He stressed that it should be developed according to the need & issues of workers covering both formal and informal workers of Textile & Garment Sectors.

He also briefed on GEFONT education system and various trainings and educational activities. The participant analyzed and reviewed different education material & discussed programmes that would be appropriate & needed in the changing context. Based on discussion, the workshop also listed out the needs and contents of education materials and decided to make the materials accordingly. After developing the education materials, it was decided to give Training of Trainers on burning issues and further these Trainers will aware the workers at grassroots levels.
