January 01 – Two days Orientation Seminar to promote awareness & understand importance of Ratification of ILO conventions organised by GEFONT has been concluded.The aim was to create awareness among workers in order to mobilize them for creating effective pressure for ratification and effective implementation of the conventions.
Inaugurating the programme,GEFONT Secretary general Cde. Umesh Upadhyaya highlighted the importance of ILo Conventions. Secretary General said " The ILO conventions provide minimum labour Standard and its main objective is to end the labour abuse so young people who are the future of Nation need to know about these conventions . Cde. Updhyaya strongly put forward his point that labour is not just a mere thing but a valuable human contribution. Secretary General also highlighted the GEFONT campaign for the ratification of ILO convention no .87.
The training was facilitated by GEFONT Deputy Secretary General Cde. Pemba Lama, GEFONT Secretary Education department Cde. Bidur Karki, Cde. Nisha Baniya member of GEFONT migrant desk, and Ms Bharati Sharma Pokhrel from ILO on ILO core Conventions, ILO Conventions 97,143 & 189 and ILO conventions ratified by Nepal.
Altogether 43 participants from GEFONT Central, Zonal and district Youth committee members, GEFONT affiliate members and GEFONT district committee members had participated in the training.
