December 25 – Aiming to aware on gender issues at home, work place, society and at national level,two days training on Gender Equality organised by GEFONT has been concluded in Kathmandu.
Inaugurating the programme, GEFONT Secretary General Cde. Umesh Upadhaya highlighted the importance of the programme and impact to the society at large. people who are more exposed to gender issues in various areas need to be clear about gender concept to reduce discrimination and bring up gender equality at all levels. Cde. Upadhyaya expressed his hope that training programme will able to find out the way to minimise the gaps between men and woman which is existed in society from many years.
The training was facilitated by GEFONT vice President Cde. Bina Shrestha, GEFONT Planning Commission member and member of ILO GB Cde. Binda Pandey and Mr Prakash Shrma from ILO on Gender Concept, Gender discrimination and its impact ,Gender Equity and Equality, Access and Control, GEFONT Gender Policy and policies on gender and Gender Mainstreaming in Nepal.
Altogether 35 participants from GEFONT affiliate women leaders, GEFONT Zonal and district committee members had participated in the training.
